Don’t wait for the ceiling
The sooner a fault is fixed, the cheaper it is. Get in touch if you see any of these around your home:
Stains spreading across upstairs ceilings or around the chimney breast.
Tiles or slates out of line, or pieces lying on the drive after wind.
Ridges that look uneven, with mortar cracking along the joints.
Gaps in the chimney pointing, loose pots or lead lifting away.
Water running down the walls or green streaks under the eaves.
Puddles, bubbles or cracks on a garage, dormer or extension.
Not sure what you’re looking at?
01 · Roof Leak Repairs
Water rarely comes in where the stain appears. We follow it back across the roof and through the loft to the real cause – a cracked tile, a tired valley, lifted lead or failed underlay – and repair that.
Every leak is inspected from both sides where possible. We look at the covering, the junctions and the gutters outside, then the felt, battens and insulation inside, so nothing is missed.
You’ll see photos of the fault and get a fixed price for putting it right before we start.
Where Leaks Usually Start
01Cracked or slipped tiles let rain onto the felt beneath.
02Blocked or worn valleys overflow in heavy downpours.
03Lifted lead at chimneys and walls lets driving rain in.
04Torn or perished felt can’t stop wind-blown rain any more.

02 · Tile & Slate Repairs
Rusted nails, rotten battens and frost all loosen tiles and slates over time. We replace the damaged ones with matching materials and secure the surrounding area so the roof stays intact.
Even one missing tile exposes the felt and battens to the weather, and a gap can quickly spread as neighbouring tiles lose their support.
We match tiles and slates as closely as we can – reclaimed slate for older stone homes, the right profile and colour for modern tiles – and check the area around the repair before we leave.
Tile & Slate Work
01Slipped slates secured with clips or replaced where nails have failed.
02Cracked and frost-damaged tiles changed for matching ones.
03Missing tiles replaced and loose ones around them refixed.
04Loose verge tiles re-bedded or upgraded to dry verge.
03 · Ridge Tile Repairs
Cracked ridge mortar lets water in along the top of the roof and leaves heavy tiles loose in high winds. We re-bed ridges and hips properly or switch them to a mechanically fixed dry ridge.
Ridge mortar takes the full force of the weather. Over the years it cracks and drops out, often turning up in gutters before anyone notices the ridge has moved.
We remove the loose tiles and old mortar, then re-bed them in fresh mortar or fit a dry ridge system that clips everything securely in place without relying on mortar.
Ridge & Hip Options
01Ridges lifted, cleaned and bedded in fresh mortar.
02Clips and seals that keep ridges secure without mortar.
03Hip tiles re-secured and hip irons checked.

04 · Lead & Valley Repairs
The joins on a roof are where most leaks start. When lead splits or lifts and valleys wear out, water finds its way in. We renew flashings and valleys so every junction sheds water properly.
Lead moves with the seasons and can crack, slip out of its chase or be blown loose. Valleys fill with leaves and moss, then overflow during heavy rain.
We replace damaged lead with the correct thickness, dress it neatly and re-chase it into the masonry, and clear, repair or replace valleys as needed.
Junctions We Repair
01Step, back and front flashings renewed around the stack.
02Lead re-chased where roofs meet walls and extensions.
03Worn or leaking valleys cleared, repaired or replaced.
04Dormer cheeks and aprons re-leaded and sealed.
05 · Chimney Repairs
An exposed chimney stack is often behind damp on bedroom walls and chimney breasts. We repoint brick and stone stacks, renew flaunching, secure pots and cap unused flues.
Worn pointing soaks up rain, cracked flaunching lets water down beside the pots, and open flues let it straight in.
We inspect the stack, explain what’s causing the problem and fix it – using lime-based mortars on traditional stone chimneys where they suit the building.
Chimney Work
01Worn joints raked out and repointed.
02Cracked flaunching renewed and pots made secure.
03Unused flues capped against rain and birds.

06 · Flat Roof Repairs
Leaking garage roof? Dripping extension? We repair splits, blisters, failed edges and upstands where the roof is still sound, and we’ll tell you honestly when it’s time for a new GRP or EPDM roof.
Flat roof leaks often start at the edges, upstands or where water ponds and slowly works its way through old felt.
We check the covering and the deck beneath, repair the damaged areas and improve drainage so water runs off instead of sitting on the roof.
Flat Roof Repairs
01Damaged felt cut out and patched properly.
02Trims and wall junctions resealed.
03Falls and outlets improved to drain the roof.
04A new long-lasting roof when repair isn’t worth it.
07 · Storm Damage Repairs
Strong winds across the Wharfe Valley can strip tiles and lift ridges in minutes. We secure the roof and make it watertight as quickly as we can, then come back to repair it properly.
Once tiles have gone, every shower soaks the felt and battens beneath. Getting the roof covered quickly limits the damage inside.
If you’re claiming on your home insurance, we’ll provide photos of the damage and a written quote for your insurer.
Our Storm Damage Process
01Loose tiles and debris made safe.
02The roof made watertight to stop further damage.
03Tiles, ridges and flashings properly replaced.
04Photos and a written quote for your insurer.

08 · Gutter & Fascia Repairs
A dripping gutter joint can soak the same patch of wall all winter. We repair joints, brackets and downpipes, reset gutters that have lost their fall and replace rotten fascia boards.
Faulty guttering sends water down your walls, staining brick and stone and leading to damp inside.
We fix the faulty sections, reset the fall so water reaches the downpipes, and replace damaged timber fascias with UPVC where needed.
Roofline Repairs
01Leaking unions and seals replaced.
02Sagging gutters re-hung to drain properly.
03Rotten timber swapped for durable UPVC.

Questions
Can’t see your question here? Give us a ring on 07482 333 160 – we’re happy to talk it through.
It depends on the fault and the access needed. A couple of slipped tiles is a much smaller job than a valley or chimney. After a free inspection we give you a fixed written price.
We check the roof outside and, where possible, the loft inside. Leaks often travel along timbers before showing, so we follow the water back to where it’s getting in.
Repairs are our focus on this site, but we also carry out re-roofs, new flat roofs and roofline replacement when a repair genuinely isn’t worth it – and we’ll explain why.
Yes. We match slates and tiles, use suitable mortars and renew lead neatly on Wetherby’s older homes, and we’ll advise if anything needs checking with Leeds City Council in a conservation area.
Yes – all of LS22 and LS23, including Boston Spa, Collingham, Linton, Bramham, Thorp Arch, Clifford and the surrounding villages.
Tell us when you call and we’ll do our best to make the roof safe and watertight as soon as we can.
Yes – all our work is fully insured and our workmanship is guaranteed. We’ll explain what’s covered when we quote.

Wind drives rain under tiles and behind flashings that cope fine in still weather. It usually points to slipped tiles, lifted lead or failed underlay.
Where it’s safe we can often stop the water the same visit, then return for a permanent repair if more work is needed.
Yes – it’s quick and stops water damaging the battens and felt. If slates are slipping across the whole roof we’ll explain the longer-term options.
We’ll find the closest match available, or use reclaimed tiles where possible.
Dry ridge is low-maintenance and stays secure in high winds. Mortar suits some traditional roofs. We’ll recommend what fits yours.
Most ridge repairs on a house are completed in a day, weather permitting.
Sometimes a small section can be re-chased, but split or badly fitted lead is best replaced so it doesn’t fail again.
Usually it’s blocked with debris or the lining has worn. We’ll clear it and repair or replace it.
If the damp is on or around the chimney breast, it’s very likely. We’ll check the pointing, flaunching, lead and flue to find out.
Yes – a cap or cowl keeps rain and birds out while still allowing some ventilation.
If the problem is local and the rest is sound, yes. If the felt is failing everywhere, a new GRP or EPDM roof is better value.
Most flat roof repairs are done in a day; a full replacement usually takes one or two.
Keep clear of the area below, then call or WhatsApp us a photo. We’ll arrange to secure and cover the roof as quickly as possible.
We provide photos and a written quote that you can send to your insurer to support your claim.
Yes – individual joints and sections can be repaired without replacing the whole gutter run.
Usually a blockage, a lost fall or gutters too small for the roof. We’ll find the cause and fix it.
